My jaw dropped the first time a friend of mine played me this track. It really was one of those moments when your brain takes a photo. I can close my eyes and picture where I was sitting, what kinda chair I was sitting in, where my friend sat, etc.
«Just Friends» grabbed me from the first note. The almost Disney-ish strings and the ridiculously beautiful sax of bird had me sold. If you don’t like this song, I’m afraid music might not be the thing for you. There’s really not much more to say.
Chet Baker recorded a more straight jazz version which is also very nice.
